| Thailand VSE Trip 2009 |

Luxury was awaiting the VSE Gold Prize Draw winners, who attended the holiday of a lifetime – a magical trip to Thailand. The lucky VSE customers were all welcomed in Bangkok, staying in the 5 star palatial splendour of the Shangri-la Hotel, which offered easy access to superb shops and markets right on their doorsteps. Two fabulous day trips were arranged for Hoya guests, including an excursion on the Chao Phraya River of Kings and dinner with breathtaking views over Bangkok at the Vertigo Restaurant - giving the guests a slice of quintessential Thailand! The time in Bangkok also enabled a visit to Hoya’s largest lens manufacturing facility in the historical city of Ayutthaya. Mid-week, the VSE prize draw winners were transferred to a beach resort, with four nights on the idyllic island of Koh Samui. This was the perfect setting for a relaxing break in paradise, and a great way for us to say thank you for the excellent use of our premium products throughout the VSE promotion. One guest exclaimed “An unbelievable experience! To give it full justice would require writing a book!” The customers were supported throughout their time in Thailand by Hoya’s Managing Director Martin Batho and Hoya Area Sales Managers John Heritage and Paul Jones. The VSE promotion, which ran from November 08 to July 09, allowed customers to turn their sales into incentive points. The motto ‘The more Hoya premium lenses you dispense the more points you will be awarded’, meant that all customers could earn an array of prizes including a Trip to New York, a Supercar driving experience, a pamper Spa day or a Marks and Spencer shopping spree! | NO PAIN NO GAIN, FUNDRAISING FOR CHILDREN IN NEED |

This year, Pudsey Bear asked us to “do something different” for Children In Need, so here at the Hoya factory in Wrexham, in addition to our usual annual activities we did something a little out of the ordinary.
For one day only, on Friday 20th November, our meeting room was transformed into a waxing studio (courtesy of Pinks nail bar and beauty salon) and 4 volunteers were strapped down and waxed for charity. This year, through raffles, hampers, cake stalls and…waxing, Hoya employees were able to raise a fantastic £663.85 for Children In Need. Special thanks must go to our brave, smooth legged volunteers, Steve Davies, Steve Pickering, Jon Morris and Gary Harris for being such good sports on the day.
